Decent but Overhyped – Not the Aventus Killer Everyone ClaimsLet me start by saying Club de Nuit Intense isn't a bad fragrance. It's fine. But the way the fragrance community talks about this thing, you'd think it was liquid gold in a bottle. It's not. It's a solid 3 out of 5 and I think people need to be more honest about that.Yes, it resembles Creed Aventus. Everyone knows that by now. But resembling something great doesn't automatically make you great. The opening is harsh and has this sharp, almost chemical lemon note that takes a good 20-30 minutes to settle down. Aventus never had that problem. If you're spraying this before walking into a room, you better give it time to calm down first because that opening is aggressive and not in a good way.Once it dries down, it gets better. The smoky, fruity base is pleasant enough and that's where most of the comparisons to Aventus actually hold up. But it lacks the smoothness and the natural quality that makes the original so special. Everything feels a little rougher around the edges, a little more synthetic. You can tell where the cost savings happened.Performance is actually pretty good, I'll give it that. It lasts a solid 6-8 hours and projects well for the first few. That's probably the strongest selling point here and the main reason I'm not giving it less than 3 stars.The bottle also has a lingering chemical smell around the cap area that I've never been able to get past. Small thing but it bugs me.Look, for the price it's an okay buy if you want something in that Aventus lane without spending Creed money. But stop calling it an Aventus killer. It's an Aventus reminder at best. Temper your expectations and you'll be fine with it.
